Siu Shines In Embassy Club Tour Event
filed on Sunday, February 19, 2010.   3:42pm PT/USA

David Siu has captured Event 1 of the 2010 United States Snooker Association Tour with victory at the Embassy Billiards Club in San Gabriel, California.

A handicap format was adopted for this Tour Event played as a single elimination knockout competition, which featured the winner of last year's Tour Event at the Embassy Billiards Club, Mei Yi Fei, who had the lowest handicap at -45, indicating that he was the favorite for the Event, and the former United States National Snooker Champion, Paul Kimura, who had a handicap of -23.

Fung then got back on level terms has he decisively claimed the fourth frame, and then forged 3-2 ahead as he sealed the following frame by pocketing a respotted black ball.

Siu however, who was on an handicap of 15 throughout the Event, faced Andy Chan in the final who was also on a handicap of 15 so both players started each frame with level point scores, and he had a comfortable run to victory has he went onto claim a 3-0 success.

Siu started with a 20-point advantage each frame during his 3-1 semifinal win over Harry Kon, and also scored an excellent 3-0 quarterfinal defeat of Kimura who was yielding 38 points per frame.

Chan played Mei in the semifinals, with the defending champion giving away a huge 60 points per frame which ultimately proved too much even for a player of his ability, and he came through a 3-0 winner.

Chan also competed against one of the Embassy Billiards Club's top players in the quarterfinals, as he received a 40-point advantage each frame from Sim Lim though secured a 3-1 victory.

The Tour now moves onto Mountain View in California when the season's Tour Event 3 will take place at the California Billiard Club over the weekend of March 13 & 14.

The Tour now moves onto Brooklyn in New York when the season's Tour Event 2 will take place at the Prince Snooker Club over the weekend of February 27 & 28.
