First Tour title for Newstead at Empire Billiard and Snooker
filed on Monday, November 30, 2015.   11:15am PT/USA

Alexander Newstead has captured his first United States Snooker Association Tour (USSA) title with victory in Event 4 of the 2015-16 season, sponsored by Aramith Billiard Balls, Sterling Gaming and the Tweeten Fibre Co., at Empire Billiard and Snooker in Redmond, WA.

It was the first time that Englishman Newstead had competed in a USSA Tour event, and he took the tournament by storm as he came through the field with some excellent play and defeated the favorite and former winner of this title, Andy Liu, 3-1 in the semifinals.

In the final Newstead was matched up against Ming Wu, with Wu earlier coming through an epic 3-hour semifinal on the deciding black ball against Lee Noble, but the Chinese player was no match for the in-form Englishman and he ran out a comfortable 3-0 winner.
