2019 United States National Snooker Championship. Q Ball Snooker & Pool - Houston, Texas. August 30 - September 2

Houston's Mark White has upset the seedings at this year's United States National Snooker Championship at Q Ball Snooker & Pool in his home city, as he wins Group D undefeated to secure his round of 16 berth.

This is White's second appearance in this Championship since becoming a U.S. citizen, though he is determined to improve on his 2017 performance at the New York Athletic Club when he suffered a very disappointing round of 16 exit.

Earlier this year he made the semifinals of the Pan American Snooker Championship where he was defeated by the eventual champion, Brazil's Igor Figueiredo, so his Group victory did not come as too much of a surprise. White will now face the fourth placed player in Group A, Amit Karki.

The number four seed in Group D, Laszlo Kovacs, did finish in second place with just that one defeat to White, and so also advances into the round of 16 where he will take on Arif Mahmood who finished third in Group A.

The defending Champion, Ahmed Aly Elsayed, has advanced into the round of 16 after topping Group A, but the number one seed did not have it all his own way. The four-times champion won his first three Group matches without losing a frame, however he then lost his final match to Washington state's Cheang Ciing Yoo who has qualified in second place.

Aly has booked an encounter with the fourth placed player in Group D, Rushil Vig, while Yoo goes onto meet Thomas Tan who came third in Group D.

New York's Raymond Fung was in fine form in Group B as the number two seed sealed top position after a clean sweep of victories, and now in the round of 16 the 2017 Champion will take on the fourth placed player in Group C, Syed Hassan.

Second place in Group B was gained by Nitin Mehta, and he will match up in the round of 16 against the third place player in Group C, Vaishal Talati.

The twice former champion Ajeya Prabhakar comfortably won Group C undefeated, with the number three seed now taking on the fourth placed player from Group B in the round of 16, Majid Randhawa.
