Ahmed Aly Elsayed has booked his place in a record eighth United States National Snooker Championship final, where the defending champion will take on first time finalist Cheang Ciing Yoo at Q Ball Snooker & Pool in Houston, Texas.

Yoo went into his semifinal against Raymond Fung as the underdog, and when the 2017 Champion won the first frame assisted with a run of 32 he would have been all too aware of the tough task ahead of him.

Yoo has played in a confident manner throughout this Championship however, and he deserved to be having pulled off that Group victory over Aly and also a quarterfinal win over the two-time champion Ajeya Prabhakar.

From frame two, Yoo stepped up to the mark and produced a break of 35 to level the match and he also won a closely contested third frame to secure a 2-1 advantage.

Yoo's play got stronger and with respective breaks of 38 and 30 in frames four and five, he comfortably sealed the two frames he required to wrap up a superb 4-1 victory.

Aly started his semifinal match against Nitin Mehta in tremendous fashion, as the New Yorker took an early 2-0 lead assisted by respective breaks of 63 and 53.

The Californian countered with a run of 30 to win the following frame, but Aly won a fourth frame black-ball game and he sealed Mehta's fate by also taking the fifth frame to record a 4-1 success.
