2019 IBSF World Snooker Championships. Starlight Resort Hotel - Antalya, Turkey. October 29 - November 9

Ahmed Aly Elsayed has become the second United States player to book their place in the knockout stage of the 2019 International Billiards & Snooker Federation (IBSF) World Snooker Championships, as he secures a vital final Group victory on day seven of play at the Starlight Resort Hotel in Antalya, Turkey.

The reigning United States National Snooker Champion had to win his last Group H match in order to progress in the Men's event, and he faced Mhanaa Alobaidli who was also playing for the opportunity to advance from the Group.

The nerves would have been jangling in both players so it was important that Aly made a good start, and he did just that by sealing the first frame on the final colored balls in this race-to-four frames tie.

The 30-year-old from Qatar then countered as he won the next two frames, but the match was then all level at 2-2 as Aly captured frame four.

The New Yorker eased the tension on his part by winning the fifth frame, but it was going to a final frame shoot-out as Alobaidli hit back with a decisive sixth frame.

Aly however would have been relieved to have had a comfortable final frame as he chalked up a 4-3 success and his further participation in the Men's event along with Ajeya Prabhakar.

As both Aly and Prabhakar finished in third place in their respective Groups, they will now have to wait to find out if they will go directly into the round of 64, or if they will be one of the four players required to play in an extra knockout round of 66 tie which are all due to be played on Wednesday, November 6.

Amitabh Seth played his penultimate match in Group N of the Masters' event against home player Muhammed Leysi, though a 3-1 defeat means that the Californian is no longer able to advance from his Group.

Both Seth and Nitin Mehta will play their final Group ties tomorrow, Tuesday.
