2019 IBSF World Snooker Championships. Starlight Resort Hotel - Antalya, Turkey. October 29 - November 9

American participation in the 2019 International Billiards & Snooker Federation (IBSF) World Snooker Championships has ended, as both Ahmed Aly Elsayed and Ajeya Prabhakar were defeated in the round of 64 of the Men's event at the Starlight Resort Hotel in Antalya, Turkey.

It was Aly, the reigning United States National Snooker Champion, who was in action first during the 1pm local time session, and he had been drawn to face Mateusz Baranowski, who won Group M undefeated to earn his place in the knockout stage.

The 22-year-old from Poland had previously scored a 4-0 Group victory over the United States' Lazslo Kovacs, and he displayed some fine form against his second American opponent of the event.

Breaks of 95 and 77 assisted Baranowski in taking a 3-0 advantage in this best-of-7 frames match, but Aly notched up frame four on the final colored balls.

Baranowski however wrapped up a 4-1 success over Aly as he secured the fifth frame with the help of a run of 52.

Prabhakar was up against Wang Yuchen in the 4pm local time session who qualified for the knockout stage by topping Group K without losing a match.

The 22-year-old from Hong Kong won the first two frames decisively and then went into a 3-0 advantage by pinching the third frame right at the end.

The two-time former United States National Snooker Champion easily won frame four, but a 64 break by Wang in frame five helped him seal a 4-1 win over the Californian.

With all American players now no longer involved in the Championships, Alan Morris, the Executive Director of the United States Snooker Association (USSA), said: "I would like to thank and praise all of the United States players for their time and effort in traveling to Turkey to compete, and particularly Ahmed and Ajeya who qualified from their Groups in the Men's event.

"It is a magnificent honor for all players to represent their nation at any international snooker event, so all players should feel proud of their participation and I hope this will give them the drive and desire to seek selection again in the future."
