In light of the ongoing situation with the coronavirus outbreak in the United States, the United States Snooker Association (USSA) wishes to make an announcement in regard to the staging of this year's United States National Snooker Championship.
The USSA was due to announce this month that the 2020 Championship would be hosted at the prestigious New York Athletic Club (NYAC) over the Labor Day holiday weekend from September 4 - 7, however due to the extent of the outbreak of the virus, particularly in New York City, the plan is now on hold.
Alan Morris, the Executive Director of the USSA, said: "The association is determined to hold the Championship this year, but we can only do so when it is deemed completely safe by the authorities, as the health and well being of the players is first and foremost in our minds.
"When this time comes we will be in consultation with our NYAC partner as to when it can be held, even if we have to arrange the Championship for a later than September staging."
Last month the USSA Board agreed to hold a further conference call on June 14 in the hope that there will then be a clearer picture as to when the Championship may take place.
(Sunday, June 14. UPDATE) The Board of the USSA decided to postpone its conference call originally scheduled for June 14 in regard to the staging of this year's United States National Snooker Championship, with a rescheduled call now planned for June 28.
