2021 United States National Snooker Championship

The New York Athletic Club (NYAC) will welcome snooker players from all across the United States tomorrow as it gets ready to host the 2021 United States National Snooker Championship in its magnificent billiard room on the 10th floor overlooking Central Park.

With the Championship being canceled last year due to the coronavirus, the event is greatly anticipated this year with players eager to return to competitive snooker action in what is a very special place to play the sport.

The Championship will initially be played using a round-robin Group format of matches played on October 14 & 15, with the knockout stage of matches being played on the final two days of October 16 & 17.

The players have been drawn into eight Groups, and the winner of each Group will advance into the Round of 16, with the second and third placed players then going into the Group Playoffs for the right to face the Group winners.

There are four seeded players based on player performances from the past three Championships, with the number one seed Ahmed Aly Elsayed looking to defend the title he won in Houston in 2019 and to triumph for a record sixth time.

Alan Morris, the Executive Director of the USSA, commented: "It is fantastic to be back at the New York Athletic Club and I would like to thank them for their hospitality and enthusiasm in yet again hosting another Championship.

"I would like to wish all the players the very best of luck, and hope they enjoy their experience competing in what should be another wonderful Championship."

This evening there will be a Championship cocktail party, where the President of the USSA, Ajeya Prabhakar, will address the players and also pay tribute to former champions Tom Kollins and Paul Kimura, and to Tommy Chen, owner of the Prince Snooker Club in Brooklyn, who have sadly passed away since the last Championship was played.

SnookerUSA.com will report on all the results from the Championship.
