2021 United States National Snooker Championship

New York's Keith Zhen is the only non-seeded player to make it through to the semifinals of the 2021 United States National Snooker Championship, as he came through a hard-fought quarterfinal battle against Amitabh Seth at the New York Athletic Club (NYAC).

The quarterfinals were delayed from their 5pm scheduled start due to the overrunning of round of 16 matches, so a long evening of intensive snooker was on the cards and that proved to be the case with this pair battling it out to reach their first Championship semifinal.

It was the Californian who started the best as he took a 2-0 advantage, though Zhen completely turned the tables as assisted with breaks of 38 and 48 he secured the following four frames to wrap up a 4-2 victory.

Zhen will take on the twice former champion Ajeya Prabhakar in the semifinals, as the number three seed came through his quarterfinal 4-1 against Luzhou Sha.

The first semifinal of the Championship though will be a repeat of the 2017 Championship final at the NYAC, as the number one and number two seeds Ahmed Aly Elsayed and Raymond Fung respectively will clash. Fung won that epic battle back in 2017, but Aly did gain revenge in the final the following year at the Prince snooker Club in Brooklyn.

This pairing was seeded to meet in the final, though as Fung failed to win his Group he had to come through on Aly's half of the draw.

Aly cruised to a 4-0 quarterfinal defeat of Li Hua Chen which included breaks of 62 and 44, while Fung came through his quarterfinal after a 4-2 victory over Arif Mahmood.
