Fung fights into quarterfinals

Raymond Fung has kept his hopes alive for a second title, as the number two seed booked his place into the quarterfinals of the 2022 United States National Snooker Championship after a round of 16 victory over Rajneesh Bansal at Ox Billiards in Seattle.
Bansal had secured his place in the round of 16 after winning Group E undefeated, while Fung had lost one of his Group B matches. It was the player from Illinois who took the first frame, though the 2017 Champion and last year's semifinalist leveled after taking a close frame two. But there was no stopping Fung from then on, as he easily reeled off the next two frames to record a 3-1 win.
Elsewhere in these 10am session start round of 16 matches, Seattle's Cheang Ciing Yoo advanced into a last eight meeting with Fung as with breaks of 30 and 55 the number four seeded player defeated New York's Li Hua Chen 3-1.
Jacky Wei impressed by winning Group A, and he is continuing his excellent form as he defeated his fellow Californian Amitabh Seth 3-0, and now he will play Arif Mahmood in the quarterfinals who had an epic battle with Alfred Tinger as he came back from a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2.
