2022 IBSF World Snooker Championships - Antalya, Turkey

Ajeya Prabhakar ended his participation in the 2022 International Billiards & Snooker Federation (IBSF) World Snooker Championships with a creditable round of 16 appearance in the Masters' Event, as the Championships concluded today at the Sueno Hotels Beach Side in Antalya, Turkey.

The Californian had reached the round of 48 in the Men's Event and so was hoping to improve on that performance in the Masters Event for players aged 40 years and over, and he very much achieved this goal.

The twice United States National Snooker Champion was drawn in Group C, and although he narrowly lost his first match 3-2 to Ireland's Mark Tuite, he then proceeded to defeat home player Yilmaz Şenel 3-0, Israel's Shaul Eliau 3-2, and finished up with a fantastic 3-1 win over Welshman Gareth Edwards to advance from the Group in second place.

The top three players from the nine groups advanced through to the knockout stage of the event, so Prabhakar was required to play a round of 27 match to progress to the round of 16.

Prabhakar was matched-up with Enkhtuvshin Bat-Ochir who finished in third place in Group G, and he went onto seal a very comfortable 4-1 victory over the player from Mongolia.

A tough tie awaited Prabhakar in the round of 16 as he faced the winner of Group F, Bashar Abdulmajeed. The American started in terrific fashion as he easily took the first two frames, but from then on the match turned dramatically in favor of the player from Qatar who ran in breaks of 54, 43 and 92 to cruise through the following three frames respectively, and he then wrapped up the match 4-2 with a convincing performance in frame 6.

Welshman Darren Morgan won the Semiors Event after a 5-3 defeat of India's Manan Chandra in the final, Belgium's Wendy Jans won the Women's Event after a 4-3 final victory over India's Vidya Pillai, and the Men's Event was won by Lim Kok Leong after the Malaysian beat Iran's Amir Sarkhosh 5-0 in the final.
