filed Sunday, March 26, 2023.   8:41am PT/USA

The Embassy Billiards Club hosted this prestigious Championship on eight occasions between 1995 and 2012, and is now owned by last year's United States National Snooker Champion, Steven Wong, so it will prove to be an extra special occasion for him when he defends his title in his own club.

Wong told SnookerUSA.com: "I don't believe I am a naturally talented snooker player, but what I do believe is that a lot of dedicated hard practice, year after year, helped me become the champion in 2022.

"And now as the reigning champion and the owner of the Embassy Billiards Club, I am so excited that the Championship is now back at the club for the first time since 2012."

The Embassy Billiards club has eight regulation standard snooker tables in the main area of the club, plus another regulation standard snooker table in a private room. This year's Championship will utilize the eight tables in the main area of the club over the four days of play.

With the hosting of this year's Championship back at the Embassy Billiards Club, Alan Morris, the Executive Director of the United States Snooker Association (USSA), said: "I really am so very pleased to have the Championship back at the Embassy Billiards Club after such a long time away, as the club boasts the most number of snooker tables of any billiard club in the United States, which which will afford the opportunity to have the largest number of players to ever participate in the Championship.

"I know Steven has put in a lot of investment in upgrading the snooker facilities in the past year, and so will have every right to feel very proud of his achievements when he starts the defense of his title on September 1st in his own club.

"On behalf of the Board of the United States Snooker Association I would like to offer my thanks to Steven and everyone at the Embassy Billiards Club, and we cannot wait to welcome all snooker players from around the nation for what we know will be a truly magnificent and high quality Championship."

Entry for this year's Championship will open on May 1, and will be open to eligible USSA members who have signed up to membership on the USSA's Cloud Snooker system.

Further details on how to sign up to USSA Membership on Cloud Snooker, and how to enter the Championship will be published next month in the Championship Rules & Conditions of Entry document.
