Snooker news and information from the United States and around the world
The United States Snooker Association (USSA) is the internationally recognized governing body of the sport
of snooker in the United States.
Founded in 1991 by the British born Michael Collins, the association is dedicated to furthering the
popularity of international snooker in the United States, and to create a structure capable of supporting
international championships in the United States, and to develop skilled American players to represent the
United States at home and abroad.
The USSA is a member of the International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF), the world governing body
of non-professional English billiards and snooker.
In August 2006 the USSA achieved one of its goals by successfully staging the inaugural IBSF World Snooker
Team Championships at the DoubleTree Hotel in San Jose, California. The Championships were the first ever
major international snooker event to be staged in the United States.
The USSA has many programs and ideas in the pipeline to help further the promotion and development
of snooker in the United States all of which will be reported here on SnookerUSA.com.
