Sports have always been a part of the life of Carl Hancock. As a child he played baseball and football in school, and it was helpful to have his brother Todd, five years older than he, who could teach him and to have someone to practice with.

Todd eventually introduced Carl to the sport of armwrestling, and he competed in tournaments throughout the United States and Canada for about 11 years — during that time he won Armwrestler of the Year in 1983.

One of Carl's favorite sports was tennis. He played for about 30 years in clubs, leagues and tournaments, and also coached boys' and girls' tennis for a few years.

However, in the beginning of 2022, in order to recover from some serious health issues, Carl started to play snooker on a 5 feet x 10 feet table at the Olympic Club in Centralia, Washington. He considers snooker as a way of mental and physical therapy and recovery.

It was then that Carl decided to establish a snooker venue called In The Pocket Snooker Club" which has three full-sized 6 feet x 12 feet Riley Aristocrat tables.

Carl writes on the club website: "I could use my experience as an athlete, coach, referee and promoter to promote the sport of snooker for other players. My hope is that there will be others who will join this endeavor and play this wonderful, challenging and sometimes frustrating game of snooker.

"I'm new to this sport and have a lot to learn. With the right coaching, mentoring, practice and experience, I plan on improving my skills and playing this sport as long as I can. So far, we're off to a good start."

In The Pocket Snooker Club is a newly remodeled 1,500 square foot venue on secure, private property with vaulted ceilings, heating & air conditioning, with convenient access to local hotels, gas stations, and restaurants. You can help yourself to food and beverages available at the snack bar by donation. Members can also bring their own food and beverages and keep in the refrigerator. There's also a microwave and oven to heat up food.

Secure code or biometric fingerprint access allows registered members 24/7 access to practice and play at convenient times. Doors remain closed and locked at all times. Facility is monitored with on-site video surveillance cameras.
