Igor Figueiredo will return to the professional World Snooker Tour (WST) next season, after the Brazilian scored a 5-2 final defeat of his compatriot Fabio Anderson Luersen to win the 2025 Pan American Open Snooker Championship at Aryan Snooker & Billiards in Sacramento, California.
As was the case in the Seniors Championship, the Open Championship was also dominated by the players from Brazil with all four semifinal contenders again coming from the South American nation.
Figueiredo secured his place in the final after a rapid 4-0 semifinal defeat of the former professional Victor Sarkis, and Luersen came through by overcoming the Seniors Championship runner-up, Noel Rodrigues Morreira, 4-2.

Figueiredo, who had previously won this title back in 2019 when it was played in Houston, Texas, also hit the highest break of the tournament on his progression through to the final, when he compiled a run of 132 in the fifth frame of his 4-1 quarterfinal win over Canada's Jason Williams.
In the final, the 47-year-old took the early initiative with runs of 41 and 58 which helped to forge a 2-0 advantage, however Luersen hit back with breaks with 51 and 34 in frames three and four respectively to level the match.
Luersen had the opportunity to move into a 3-2 lead, however he missed a difficult cut back on the final pink ball into the top-left hand pocket, only to leave it over the top-right hand pocket for Figueiredo to easily pocket and enable himself take that 3-2 lead.
A swift sixth frame which included a break of 57 by Figueiredo extended his lead to 4-2, and he asserted a very deserved victory after taking the seventh frame to wrap up the match and win his second Pan American Open Snooker Championship title.
Figueiredo will now be back playing as a professional on the World Snooker Tour (WST) from the 2026-27 season, though as the winner of the 2025 Pan American Seniors Championship, he first has a date competing in next year's World Seniors Snooker Championship at the Crucible in Sheffield, England.
