Renat Denkha is three matches away from a third successive United States National Snooker Championship title after defeating Alfred Tinger to book his berth in the quarterfinals of this year's event at the PABSA Academy in Santa Clara, California.
The first session of Round 2 matches commenced at 9am on this Labor Day holiday Monday with Denkha proceeding to win three straight frames over his opponent from New York state, and will now take on Daniel Holoyda in the last-8
Holoyda, who won Group H to book his spot direct into Round 2, found himself 2-0 down to Ernst Bezemer and staring defeat right in the eyes. However the 27-year-old, who is a citizen of the United States living in Poland and has played extensively on the snooker scene in Europe, used all of his experience to hit back by securing the following three frames to record a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Texan.

Daren Taylor won the battle of the Arizonans as the 2023 champion defeated his good friend Romil Azemat, the owner of the Arizona Snooker Academy, 3-0 assisted with a break of 90 in frame one. Taylor will now take on Kevin Kuei in the quarterfinals, as the player from Washington state who finished in third place in Group C, had a tremendous 3-1 success over the six-times former champion Ahmed Aly Elsayed, which included a break of 84.
In the 12pm session of Round 2 ties, last year's runner-up Ajeya Prabhakar will not be adding to his two championship titles as the number three seed fell to last year's semifinalist Andy McCloskey. The number four seed ran out a 3-0 winner and will now match-up against Sargon Isaac in the quarterfinals, as the three times former winner of this title claimed a narrow 3-2 win over Tom Limor on the final pink ball.
Six of the eight seeded players have made it to the last-8 of this year's Championship, as the fourth quarterfinal will feature the number seven seed and 2022 Champion Steven Wong who came through a tussle to overcome Paul Richardson 3-2, and he will play number eight seed Hasanain Alsultani who secured his place after a 3-0 win over Peter Du.
The quarterfinals will commence at 5pm local time with the winners coming back tomorrow at 9am to contest the semifinals.
