How snooker found a home at North Broward Preparatory School
filed Tuesday, September 15, 2026.   7:15am PT/USA

Founded in September 2025, the Snooker Club at North Broward Preparatory School (NBPS) in Coconut Creek, Florida, was created to give students a fresh, authentic way to experience this sport.

The school had absolutely nothing to start with. However, they managed to get a full-sized, professional snooker table all the way from China to their campus in Florida. They had to overcome international shipping and installation challenges, as well as arranging local repairs for damage during transit; their effort finally brought a dedicated snooker space to life.

Since then, the club has gradually grown into a vibrant community hub. What began with 19 founding members has expanded to spark curiosity across a diverse student group — engaging dozens of students from countries including Vietnam, Russia, China, and the United States.

The club's initiative has steadily developed from that single imported table into bi-weekly sessions and multicultural collaborations, showing how a passion for snooker can bring students from different backgrounds together and help make snooker a lasting part of their high school community.

These bi-weekly sessions cover basic cue techniques, professional match breakdowns, and the rich heritage of the sport. In February 2026, they staged their inaugural recreational tournament.

The United States Snooker Association is absolutely delighted with this initiative, and would like to congratulate everyone involved in making this happen and demonstrating how spreading the snooker word can bring people together.
